Mineralogy Laboratory
In this laboratory, minerals are studied and identified in terms of mineralogical compounds using existing devices and equipment. There are advanced and modern equipment in this laboratory, some of which are described.
۱ – Micro Analyzer Electron Probe or EPMA SX100 of Cameca France
The largest and most important feature of the microprobe is the quantitative analysis of the elemental decomposition of Be to U from the elemental decomposition (by mineralogy on the mineral). Other features such as EDS quality analysis, BSE and SE electron microscopic images, distribution of elements in a certain length and distribution of elements within a specific range are also present on this device.
۲ – Microscop Scanning Electron or SEM Equipped with QEMSCAN Software Model LEO1450 UP
It has the ability to capture images with high resolution and high resolution images, and provides BSE and SE images. Another feature of SEM is the distribution of elements in a certain length and the distribution of elements within a given range. The QEMSCAN system has the ability to calculate the percentage of freedom, percentage of different minerals, alarms, and so on.
۳ X Ray Diffraction or XRD, Philips-Xpert Pro
Identification of crystalline phases by powder method, quantitative measurement of minerals by Rietueld method, identification of clays from the capabilities of this system. Meanwhile, this machine is equipped with a high temperature camera system (1000 ° C) to provide phase diagrams.
۴ light microscopes equipped with image analysis and inclination studies
Initial mineralogy studies on all minerals are done by these microscopes. In certain studies, there is the possibility of working with oily objects.
۵ DTA / TGA thermal analysis devices, STA409PC model
Detecting cines or materials using their thermal properties, distinguishing clay types from each other, and investigating the thermal behavior of ceramic and latent phases are the applications of thermal analysis apparatus.
۶ viscometer and rheometer devices
These devices are used to determine the rheometric properties of fluids at ambient temperature and at different temperatures.
۷ sections for thin section and polished section
This section is equipped with various devices, such as stone cutting, thinning and polishing of samples. By this equipment samples are prepared for study in other parts.
